MDAS · Mayrah Development Assessment System

Built to help you observe your child — never to test them.

MDAS is a free check you can do from home. You answer three short questions in each of ten areas of development, about things you have actually seen your child do, and see a colour for each area with simple next steps. It never gives your child a label.

(01)What MDAS is

MDAS is a free, parent-led check of developmental milestones for children aged 8 months to 7 years. You answer short questions about what you have actually seen your child do. MDAS compares your answers with what is typically expected at your child’s age, using Mayrah’s own library of 1,200 everyday skills, built from more than two decades of clinical practice, and gives each area a colour with simple next steps.

It takes 5 to 8 minutes, and your child is never identified: only their age in months is held, and every record is deleted automatically after 30 days.

MDAS is a screening and awareness tool. It does not provide a clinical diagnosis. Please discuss any concerns with a qualified professional.

Academic is included from 30 months. Pre-academic skills rest on communication, thinking and motor foundations that come first, so a younger child is checked on nine areas, and the report shows only the areas actually checked.

“These are common patterns, not a race. Every child moves through them at their own pace.”

How MDAS works

  1. 01

    Consent

Three clear statements: this is indicative, not clinical; your answers are stored and deleted automatically after 30 days; and whether you would like us to contact you.

  2. 02

    Your child’s age

In years and months. It decides which skills are in scope for your child.

  3. 03

    Ten short screens

One for each area, three questions each, about plain everyday behaviour, rated from “Never” to “Always”. The questions change each time.

  4. 04

    Name and mobile

Asked once, to put on your report.

  5. 05

    An instant report

Every area checked is shown green, amber or red, with next steps and a private link that only you hold.

Illustrative sample. Colours are prompts, not verdicts.

  • OPS · Observed Performance Score

    What you have seen

The average of your ratings across the questions asked in that area.

  • EPS · Expected Performance Score

    What is typical

The benchmark for that area at your child’s age band, drawn from the competency levels of every skill in Mayrah’s library that applies at that age.

  • DGI · Domain Gap Index

    The gap

Expected minus observed: the distance between what is typically expected and what you report.

How the gap becomes a colour

  • Green · On trackGap below 0.50. Broadly in line with the general expectation for that age.
  • Amber · Keep monitoringGap of 0.50 to 0.99. Something may be worth watching over the coming months.
  • Red · Worth a conversationGap of 1.00 or more. We suggest speaking to a qualified professional.

A screening can be wrong in both directions

It can miss something, or flag something that turns out to be fine. If you are worried about your child, speak to a qualified professional, whatever the colours say. Our team is always there to talk it through with you.

Proprietary, not “validated”

MDAS is proprietary, structured and grounded in two decades of clinical practice. It is not a standardised test validated against a representative sample of Indian children, and we will never claim that it is.

(06)What makes it Mayrah’s own

Built from our own clinical work, not licensed from anyone else

  • The 1,200-skill libraryand its mapping to age bands, drawn from Mayrah’s own clinical work. It is not a licensed instrument.
  • The 61-subdomain structurebeneath the ten areas of development.
  • The Domain Gap Indexand its thresholds: the way what you observe and what is expected are turned into a clear signal.
  • Age-appropriate selectionwhich skills are asked at which age, including leaving Academic out below 30 months.
  • The Milestones Passbooka companion booklet that turns single checks into a developmental history the family owns.
