Disclaimer
What MDAS is, what it is not, and how its results should be read.
Last updated: 9 September 2026
This is the disclaimer for MDAS, our online developmental check at www.mdas.mayrah.in. Where it says “this website”, it means the MDAS site. The text below is reproduced from the live version, which is the one that applies, with our current contact details and the name of our Grievance Officer.
The most important thing on this page
MDAS does not diagnose your child, and it is not a medical test.
MDAS is an awareness and screening tool. It is designed to help you notice and organise what you already observe about your child’s development, and to help you decide whether a conversation with a qualified professional would be useful. It cannot tell you whether your child has, or does not have, any medical, developmental or psychological condition.
A result from MDAS is not a diagnosis, an assessment, a clinical opinion, a prognosis, or a treatment recommendation. Only a qualified professional who examines your child in person can provide those.
What MDAS is, and what it is not
MDAS is:
- A structured way to record what you observe about your child across 10 developmental domains
- A prompt to look more closely, and to start a conversation
- A record you can keep and share with a professional if you choose to
MDAS is not:
- A diagnostic test for autism, ADHD, a learning disability, a speech or language disorder, or any other condition — it does not test for any specific condition
- A clinical or psychological assessment
- A medical device. MDAS is not registered with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation or any regulatory body, and is not offered as a medical device under the Medical Devices Rules, 2017
- A substitute for examination by a paediatrician, psychologist, therapist or other qualified professional
- A validated or standardised psychometric instrument
The results are based entirely on what you report
MDAS works from your answers alone. Nobody from Mayrah observes or examines your child. The result therefore depends completely on how you interpret the questions and how your child happened to be on the day you answered.
Children also develop unevenly, and a child’s performance varies with mood, health, tiredness, setting and familiarity. A single assessment is a snapshot, not a measurement.
The comparison points are indicative
The age expectations used by MDAS are drawn from Mayrah’s own clinical experience and its internal skills framework. They are not population norms derived from a standardised, statistically representative sample of Indian children, and they have not been independently validated. They are offered as a reasonable general guide, not as a scientific standard.
How to read your result — and its limits
Each domain returns green, amber or red. These are prompts, not verdicts:
- Green — On TrackYour answers were broadly in line with the general expectation for that age.
- Amber — Keep MonitoringSomething may be worth watching over the coming months.
- Red — Worth a ConversationWe suggest speaking to a qualified professional.
MDAS can be wrong in both directions, and you should expect that.
- A green result does not mean your child definitely has no difficulty. A child with a real developmental condition can score green. Never let a green result stop you from acting on your own concern, or delay seeking advice you were otherwise going to seek.
- A red or amber result does not mean something is wrong. Many children who score amber or red are developing typically and need nothing at all.
If you are worried about your child, speak to a qualified professional — whatever MDAS says.
Not for emergencies
MDAS is not for urgent or emergency situations. If your child needs immediate medical attention, has lost skills they previously had, or you have an urgent concern about their health or safety, contact a doctor or emergency services straight away. Do not use MDAS instead.
Who it is for
MDAS is designed for children aged 8 months to 7 years and must be completed by a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over. Results for a child outside this age range, or completed by someone who does not know the child well, are unlikely to be meaningful.
No professional relationship is created
Using MDAS does not create a doctor–patient, therapist–client, or any other professional or fiduciary relationship between you and Mayrah Centre for Child Development or any of its staff. No such relationship arises unless and until you separately engage Mayrah’s services under a written agreement.
Nothing on the MDAS site is medical, psychological, educational or legal advice.
No guarantee
MDAS is provided “as is” and “as available”, free of charge. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no representation or warranty of any kind — express or implied — that:
- the results are accurate, complete, reliable or suitable for any particular purpose
- the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free
- any defect will be corrected
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mayrah Centre for Child Development, its trustees, directors, employees, consultants and contractors will not be liable for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary — arising from or connected with:
- your use of, or inability to use, MDAS
- any decision you take, or do not take, on the basis of a result
- any delay in seeking, or any failure to seek, professional evaluation
- any inaccuracy in a result, in either direction
You are responsible for decisions about your child’s health and care. MDAS is one input among many, and should never be the only basis for such a decision.
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Referrals and third parties
If a result suggests a professional conversation, that is a general suggestion, not a referral to any named practitioner. If we mention or introduce a third-party professional or service, we do not endorse, supervise or take responsibility for the care they provide. Any engagement is between you and them.
Intellectual property
MDAS, the 10-domain framework, the underlying skills and benchmark data, the report format, and all associated text and design are the property of Mayrah Centre for Child Development. You may use MDAS for your own family’s personal, non-commercial use, and you may share your own report with a professional of your choosing. You may not copy, reproduce, adapt, republish or commercially exploit MDAS or any part of it without our written permission.
